You Will Die is a site-specific, temporary installation that engages with the gallery environment. Assembled from found objects, the work offers a meditation on mortality. Living pothos vines are manipulated to spell out the words “you will die” across a temporary fencing panel, whose rusted steel surface signals decay and impermanence. Together, the steel and the plants function as physical manifestations of the life cycle – forms in a constant process of transformation.
The large-scale text is positioned to engage the viewer with their own relationship with death, reflecting on the universal experience of existing within a temporal body.
Building on the artist’s previous explorations of psychedelic themes and the loss of her father, the work addresses Harding’s ongoing interest in the natural world, memento mori, universal interconnectedness, and what lies beyond the physical.
As part of the installation, participants were invited to leave their own death feedback.
