A self-portrait photographic work that considers the implications of the internet’s persistent presence and effortless accessibility in daily life.

The synthetic and the organic (artificial nails placed against the forest floor) are brought together to underscore the dichotomy between virtual environments and the natural world.  A juxtaposition of the glossy digital surface against the physical experience of nature.

At its core, the work is autobiographical. It does not reject or diminish the artist’s own appreciation for digital spaces, but rather draws attention to the complexities of our current moment. By situating the self within nature to shoot, then returning to the screen in editing, the work reflects an ongoing oscillation between digital immersion and a need to reconnect to the natural world.
