Interviewing Creative Folk / Fat Dog

Fat Dog aka Samantha Taylor is a Sunshine Coast multidisciplinary artist. She wears lots of creative hats but manages to ace every single practice – jam packing them full of her own unique, out-there style! I’ve had the privilege to meet Fat Dog as she embarks on her most ambitious project yet – a documentary-style 4wd adventure around Australia called ‘Far Out With Fat Dog”. The series is going to be a storytelling adventure as she shares other’s passions, connects the dots between what separates us, and celebrates Australian culture and nature. I cannot wait to watch her pilot and then her series which is going to emanate from her oddball lens and be insanely entertaining/hilarious & full of insights and positivity!

1/ What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on two custom skateboards and a mini canvas.

2/ I know you wear a lot of different creative hats, is diversity in how you spend your time important?

I try to evenly spread my time across all of my creative outlets but music has been the main one I’m working on aside from admin (building my website etc).

3/ How do new ideas come to you?

New ideas come to me in many forms, as simple as going outside or seeing a beautiful animal and I get a lot of inspiration from good conversations! Music is a huge thing that inspires me too

4/ If a genie granted you three creative wishes what would you ask for?

If a genie granted me 3 creative wishes the first one would be having the ability to work extremely quick, to be able to finish pieces in a short amount of time

My second wish would be to have my art be available to and seen by the world

My third wish would be an endless supply of abundance from my creative ventures

5/ Can you share your future vision (aka ‘the big dream’ view)?

My future vision is of me travelling the world as a famous artist/musician/entrepreneur making my dreams come true and documenting it all to create the grooviest tv show ever – think the mighty boosh but documentary style.
